DIY GY6 Scooter Carburetor Cleaning for Peak Performance!
DIY GY6 scooter carburetor cleaning is essential for maintaining peak performance and optimal fuel efficiency. Over time, carburetors can become clogged with dirt, debris, and residue from fuel, leading to poor engine performance, rough idling, and difficulty starting. To clean your GY6 scooter carburetor effectively, start by removing it from the scooter and disassembling it carefully. Use a carburetor cleaner spray to remove any built-up gunk from the various components, including the jets, float bowl, and passages. A soft brush can help scrub away stubborn deposits without damaging delicate parts. Pay close attention to small openings and passages to ensure they are completely clear. Once cleaned, reassemble the carburetor and reinstall it on the scooter. Finally, perform a test run to ensure the engine runs smoothly and efficiently. Regular carburetor maintenance will not only improve performance but also prolong the life of your scooter's engine, saving you time and money in the long run.

Where are you located? I need a good scooter mechanic
So you don’t need to add Killswitch to this?
Not a killswitch but a fuse is important
I did it without removing anything or damaging anything in 5 minutes or less
Yep I know many ways I can open it in 30 seconds but I can not make a video about it or there is a possibly that I will help bad people to do bad things . Thank you for watching my video
Does your carb runs high or low? I've been having a hard time getting my carb ideally other words turned so it's not leaving me on the side or dies and I have to push it back home I'm lost
Hello I like to keep my carb idle little higher so when I need more speed the carb is ready to speed up
I stopped listening too soon and didn’t do a great job taping and it got kinda stuck lol, oh well, got it done anyway. Thanks again virberello
Thank you for watching my video
Where do I get the pads from? 150cc Tao Tao Lancer
Anazon is the best place for shopping
Depends on your wheel. I did this on day one & had to break the top of my key off to unlock it, because there wasn’t enough room to reach inside.
Hello yes is very important to check your wheel size to make sure you have space to remove the lock later
are the parts mentioned fit/be used on a SYM vs 150? thanks for your reply
Hello the parts in this video are for scooter with gy6 150 cc but many scooters works the same way so if you buy parts for your scooter search on line performance parts for SYM vs 150 to make sure they work great for you . Thank you for watching my vide and ride safe
I got a PGO, don't know the model as I got it for free from my stepdad who was cleaning out his garage at his work and didn't use it and it had stood there for 5-6 years unused since he last used it. Used a weed removal tool that kind of looks like a flatheaded screwdriver with a small V shape in the middle and just managed to reach all the way to the locking mechanism from under the scooter by following the cable from the lock to it using a flashlight. A bit of fumbling and a clicking sound and the saddle was open so one dont necessary need to remove all stuff though I was lucky to have the weed tool as no screwdriver like tool had a loong enough handle except this one which had a handle a long as my forearm and then a little. So not an easy place to reach unless one has a thin long tool to poke around with. I have to give credit to this and multiple other videos thou as you guys gave me a good idea to what look for when I was fumbling around under the scooter so thx for a good video. :D
It sounds like you had quite the adventure getting that PGO scooter's saddle open! Using a weed removal tool as a makeshift long-reach tool to access the locking mechanism is pretty creative. It's great that you were able to find a solution without having to remove a lot of parts. Your experience shows that with some improvisation and a bit of guidance from helpful videos, it's possible to tackle these kinds of challenges. Thanks for sharing your story, and I'm glad the videos gave you a good idea of what to look for. Keep up the good work!
@@VirberelloScooterTips Part of the problem why I had to go this route is that the back screen on this scooter has 2 screws on the outside facing back...and another 2 underneath facing forward that it looked like I had to remove the interal saddle compartment to reach or something. Because of that despite trying, I could not remove the back portions to reach in from there. The only other video with a identical model I found, that youtuber had instead drilled out his lock to get it opened and switched out gas, ignition and saddle lock afterward. I was lucky in that I did not have to go to that extent thou. Again cheers and thx.
I have to start making videos because everyone I've watched is just horrible. You're informative but you're doing a lot of things wrong.
If you are a scooter master please make videos I like to learn from you I do many things wrong like you say but I get the same result I NEVER GO TO A MECHANIC Thanks for watching my video
Is scooter air filter good enough for really dirty roads where is dirt and sand everywhere ?
A standard scooter air filter might not be sufficient for extremely dirty roads. Protective covers can also help keep dirt and sand out. Proper maintenance and suitable filters are key to protecting your engine.
@@VirberelloScooterTips Thx very much
If i am having problems with starting my scooter when its roomtemprature or even colder....should i try to adjust the idle valve? My scooter were fine the fist few thousand miles. But, now it has become much more difficult to start it. I live in a cold climate so maybe the "default factory settings" need to be changed. Either that or my engine has low compression and my cylindre etc need to be changed.
If you're having trouble starting your scooter in colder temperatures, adjusting the idle valve might help, but it's not the only factor to consider. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the issue: First, check the spark plug to ensure it's clean and in good condition, as a fouled or worn spark plug can make starting difficult. Make sure your fuel is fresh and that there are no blockages in the fuel lines, since old or contaminated fuel can cause starting issues. Adjusting the idle valve can help if your scooter is not idling properly, especially in colder weather. Turning the idle screw slightly clockwise can increase the idle speed, which might help with starting. Additionally, check the battery to ensure it's fully charged, as cold weather can reduce battery performance, making it harder to start the engine. If your scooter has a manual choke, use it when starting in cold weather. An automatic choke might need adjustment or maintenance if it’s not working properly. Ensure the carburetor is clean and functioning correctly, as a dirty or misadjusted carburetor can cause starting issues. Low compression could be a problem, especially if your scooter has many miles on it. Performing a compression test can determine if this is the issue. If compression is low, it might be necessary to replace or rebuild parts of the engine, like the cylinder or piston rings. Lastly, check and clean or replace the air filter, as a clogged air filter can restrict airflow and make starting difficult. Start with the simpler checks (spark plug, fuel, battery, and air filter) before moving on to more complex adjustments and tests (idle valve, choke, carburetor, and compression). If you're not comfortable performing these checks and adjustments yourself, it might be a good idea to take your scooter to a professional mechanic for a thorough inspection and tune-up. You very welcome
Godbless you man! 🎉
Thank you 🙏

Where is the washer and the o ring of the mixture screw, and how I assembl them with the spring, think y
The mixture screw, also known as the air-fuel mixture screw, typically has a specific assembly order for its components: washer, o-ring, and spring. Here’s how to assemble them: Spring: This is the first component to be placed onto the mixture screw. Slide the spring onto the screw until it reaches the base of the threads. Washer: After the spring, slide the washer onto the mixture screw. The washer provides a smooth surface for the o-ring to seat against and helps prevent damage to the o-ring from the spring. O-ring: Finally, place the o-ring onto the mixture screw. The o-ring sits between the washer and the carburetor body, providing a seal to prevent air or fuel leaks. Assembly Steps Insert the Spring: Take the mixture screw and slide the spring onto the screw until it reaches the bottom. Add the Washer: Next, place the washer onto the mixture screw, right on top of the spring. Add the O-ring: Lastly, place the o-ring onto the mixture screw, ensuring it is seated properly against the washer. Installation into the Carburetor Carefully Insert the Mixture Screw Assembly: With the spring, washer, and o-ring properly assembled on the mixture screw, carefully insert the screw into the designated hole in the carburetor. Tighten the Mixture Screw: Gently turn the mixture screw clockwise until it lightly seats. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the tip of the screw or the seat in the carburetor body. Adjust the Mixture: Once the screw is seated, you can begin to adjust it according to the specifications for your particular engine or carburetor. This order ensures that the o-ring provides an effective seal and the spring maintains the tension needed for proper adjustment. Thank you for watching my video

So when I give my bike gas it doesn’t has power to take off .. like I pull the throttle it revs up but it doesn’t move , wheel spins and all … please tell me it’s not the valves inside .. that’s a complicated fix for me .. hopefully it’s the carb I need to order one … I’ve been running the same carb for 3-4 years and running it on country roads high throttle mostly … deff gotta be my carb
It sounds like you might be experiencing a clutch issue rather than a carburetor problem, especially since the engine revs up but the bike doesn't move. One possibility is clutch slip, where the clutch is slipping and the engine revs up without transferring power to the wheels. This could be due to worn clutch plates or a misadjusted clutch . Another possibility is an issue with the drive belt or bad roller weights. If your bike uses a belt drive, check to see if it's worn, loose, or broken. This can also cause the engine to rev without moving the bike. While less likely given your description, a severely clogged carburetor could cause performance issues. However, this usually results in poor engine performance overall, not just a lack of movement when revving. Internal transmission problems could also cause the symptoms you describe, but this is less common. To diagnose, you can check the clutch and look at the clutch plates if you can. If they appear worn or burnt, they likely need to be replaced. Adjust the clutch cable if it's loose. Also, inspect the drive belt or chain to ensure the drive mechanism is intact and properly tensioned. If you suspect the carburetor, a thorough cleaning can help. Given the age and usage, a rebuild kit might be beneficial if a new one isn't necessary. If you're not comfortable with these checks, a visit to a mechanic might be the best option to accurately diagnose and fix the problem.
@@VirberelloScooterTips see that’s the thing I thought it was the clutch I changed the clutch and it’s still that .. my fuel filter looks very cloudy and I’ve been running it for years I think it’s that’s .. pray to god it’s that I’ve done everything
My front headlight goes on when I stop and idle. It turns off when I go/accelerate. Is this a voltage regulator issue?
Yes that could be the wires or the regulator
I cant anyone to tell me what the very small L-shape tube is on the carb and what nipple to goes on. It's always skipped. Can you help? And, there are nipples that don't have any hoses attached to them
the L is the fuel over flow
Hey bro I have a scooter problem can u help me bro?
Yes what happen to your scooter
@@VirberelloScooterTips ok I was coming home from work and it jus stoped run . Just shut off on me. So I pushed it to this car shop and he did a couple of test and come to find out, it’s not getting a spark. The wire that goes to the spark plug isn’t getting juice. It brand new. It’s a 2024 solana limited edition. With only 586 miles
@@shaykh_0215 It sounds like you’re experiencing an issue with your Solana scooter where it's not getting a spark, even though it's brand new with low mileage. Here are a few steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the issue: Check the Spark Plug: Even if the spark plug is new, it could be defective. Try replacing it with another spark plug to see if that resolves the issue. Inspect the Ignition Coil: The ignition coil is responsible for converting the battery’s voltage into a high voltage needed to create a spark at the spark plug. Check if there are any signs of damage or wear on the ignition coil. If you have a multimeter, you can test the coil for continuity. Verify the CDI Unit: The Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) unit controls the timing of the spark. A faulty CDI can prevent the spark plug from getting a spark. Test or replace the CDI unit if necessary. Examine the Wiring: Check all the wiring connections from the battery to the ignition system. Look for any loose connections, frayed wires, or corrosion that could be disrupting the flow of electricity. Test the Stator: The stator generates the electrical power needed for the ignition system. If the stator is faulty, it won’t produce the necessary power for the spark plug. You can test the stator with a multimeter to check for continuity and proper voltage output. Check the Battery: Ensure the battery is fully charged and in good condition. A weak or dead battery can cause ignition problems. Safety Switches: Some scooters have safety switches (such as a kickstand switch or kill switch) that can prevent the engine from starting. Make sure all safety switches are functioning correctly. If you’re not comfortable performing these tests yourself, it might be best to take your scooter to a professional mechanic who can diagnose and repair the issue. Since your scooter is a 2024 model and still under warranty, consider contacting the dealership or manufacturer for assistance. also check this video ua-cam.com/video/AMDrphB1wmo/v-deo.html I hope this can help you
@@VirberelloScooterTips thanks bro sorry for lateness. I think it’s the coil. Because the guy that checked it did some test like removing the cables that connects to the spark plug put his spark plug in ground it to see if it get a spark and it didn’t
My front Caliper on my SSR Turino150cc Scooter doesnt have the 12mm mounting bolts? Any suggestions?
Do you still answer comments or questions I would have something to ask
Hello Petri I'm still here 👍
@@VirberelloScooterTips Mind if I ask you tomorrow its night here.
@@VirberelloScooterTips Oh, I totally forgot, but my 50cc Baotian scooter struggles to stay on full throttle and cant go past 30kmh without "booing" and losing power, and once again picks some speed and again slows down, but it certainly isn't the carburetor or fuel "system's" fault I have tried working carb from my friend and the same issue happened also nothing wrong with the fuel lines. Could it be the magneto or some wire issue because I cant figure it out. Also one indication of an eletrical issue is that when driving, the front light is sometimes bright sometimes not and driving speed doesnt matter. I have read every Finnish scooter article I could find but no one has had the same problem. (Forgot to mention that the intake manifold, sparkplug, coil cord and cdi are all brand new and also the right one's) +Plus booing is bad word for describing the issue it sounds like the spark dissapears completely sometimes and then comes back again. Or could the problem be blocked exhaust?
I'm in full throttle a lot
Me too ah ah ah
Curious why you didn’t mention using the kickstart as an alternative way to start your scooter. Also on that note is it recommended to not use the kickstart often? Just wondering
You are completely right but honestly if you have a gy6 150 cc the kickstart is a very bad design and sometime you can not even turn your scooter on ah ah ah and I talking about gy6 150 cc scooters other scooter are a different story
Thank u
This happened to me I was driving down the road and my spark plug just blew right out of the hole. I was literally panicking I thought I was screwed until i seen some videos that this can be fixed
That sounds stressful! It's good to know this can be fixed. Typically, you can use a helicoil or a similar thread repair kit to fix the spark plug hole or you can change the head part on a gy6 scooter and is not to expensive . It might seem daunting, but with the right tools and a bit of patience, you can do it yourself.
@VirberelloScooterTips my spark plug won't get tight. My moped is a 50cc do you no what size tool I should use
I’m trying to get my daughters gokart going, NO SPARK. Just replaced stator which I thought it was that, still no spark. Wires are all good, fixed them, retape them. Have cheap multimeter, doesn’t beep, old multimeter messed up(it beeped/other settings) Checked the cdi and show some readings on ground, checked rectifier and same. Have zero clue what I’m doing wrong I’m not an electrical guy😩
It sounds like you've been working hard to diagnose the issue with your daughter's go-kart. Here are a few steps you can take to further troubleshoot the no spark problem: Check the Spark Plug: Ensure the spark plug is in good condition. Remove it, clean it, and inspect it for any signs of damage. You can also try replacing it with a new one if you're unsure. Verify the Kill Switch: Make sure the kill switch is not engaged. Sometimes the kill switch can be faulty or accidentally turned on, preventing the spark. Inspect the Ignition Coil: The ignition coil is responsible for generating the spark. Use your multimeter to check the resistance of the ignition coil. Refer to the go-kart's manual for the correct resistance values. If the readings are off, the coil might be faulty. Check All Connections: Ensure all electrical connections are secure and free of corrosion. Loose or corroded connections can prevent the ignition system from working properly. Test the CDI Unit: The CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) unit is another critical component. If possible, test it using a known good unit. There isn't always a straightforward way to test a CDI without specialized equipment, so swapping it with a working one can help determine if it's the issue. Verify the Ground Connections: Good ground connections are essential for the ignition system to work. Make sure all grounding points are clean and secure. Check for Broken or Damaged Wires: Even though you've retaped the wires, double-check for any broken or damaged wires that might have been missed. Consult the Go-Kart's Manual: If you have the go-kart's manual, refer to it for specific troubleshooting steps and electrical diagrams. This can provide valuable information on what readings to expect and where to test. Use a Known Good Multimeter: Since your current multimeter is cheap and the old one is messed up, consider borrowing or purchasing a reliable multimeter to ensure accurate readings. If you're still having trouble, it might be helpful to seek assistance from a friend who has more experience with small engines and electrical systems or take the go-kart to a professional mechanic for a thorough diagnosis. I hope this can help you

What’s up brother thanks for your vids once again I change my variation to dr pulley 14.5 sliders I think I went to heavy I have a eagle 150 gy6 my top end speed is good but when accelerating to 30 I’m pulling 5500 rpm’s if that’s true rpm on scooter I’m hearing that sliders are a gram nore then rollers is that true and if I change clutch spring to 1500 will it help me accelerate better or should I just get 12 sliders my friend I want this mopad to last as long as possible didnt know if higher rpm’s will mess it up thank you for all your info be safe
Yes, Dr. Pulley sliders generally feel heavier than rollers. Your current setup might be a bit too heavy, affecting acceleration. Switching to a 1500 RPM clutch spring can help with better acceleration. If the 14.5g sliders seem too heavy, trying 12g sliders might give you a better balance. Higher RPMs can stress the engine, so find a setup that offers good performance without consistently high RPMs. Thank you for watching my video and ride safe
Hey man got it buy I can taste the gas from riding the moped what should I do
Riding a moped and tasting gas fumes can be concerning. Here's what you can do: Check for Leaks: Inspect the moped for any fuel leaks. Look around the fuel tank, fuel lines, and carburetor. Ventilation: Make sure you're riding in well-ventilated areas. Avoid riding in enclosed spaces where fumes can accumulate. Fuel Cap: Ensure the fuel cap is tightly closed. Sometimes, fumes can escape from a loose or damaged cap. Maintenance: Regular maintenance can prevent issues. Check the air filter, exhaust system, and fuel system. Protective Gear: Wear a mask or use a full-face helmet to reduce inhalation of fumes. See a Mechanic: If the issue persists, take your moped to a professional mechanic for a thorough inspection. Safety is crucial, so addressing the issue promptly is important. Thank you for watching my video
Thank you 🙏 didn't even realize this could be the issue you saved be from replacing the carb
